Anzac Day may be a public holiday for most of the country, but Southern Highlands Christian School students rose early, dressed in school uniform on their last day of their school holidays, in honour of the memory of those who died in battle for us.
In the horror that was war, men and women devoted themselves to fighting for our freedom. In many cases, these soldiers lost their lives in the process. They were incredibly brave individuals to whom we owe our gratitude and respect.
It may have been generations before their time, but SHCS students joined in the Anzac Parade to show how much they value the safe country we live in because these soldiers put their lives on the line to defend our nation.
It is this selfless act that is reminiscent of another story of a great man who put his life on the line for his people. Jesus died for all mankind, to save us from a life of separation from God. Through Jesus dying and being raised to life again, we now have a chance to live forever with our loving Creator.
Two different realms, but both involved a great act of selflessness.
Lest we forget.
