Hosted by Principal, Mr Andrew Middleton, Grandparents Day 2015 was a time for blessing the grandparents.
In his opening address, Mr Middleton acknowledged the support some of the grandparents have given the school and how delightful it is to have them a part of the Southern Highlands Christian School community. He also reminded us that just as a grandparent has unconditional love for their grandchildren, so God also loves us despite our flaws. He did this by quoting a verse from the book of Romans in the bible: “But God demonstrated His own love for me in this: while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me” Romans 5:8
While being served tea, coffee and scones by older primary students, grandparents, grand-friends and parents were entertained by performances from each of the Junior School years. With a mixture of songs, a narrative and a delightfully exuberant rendition of Lip Sync Battles by Stage 3 (Year 5 and 6), it was easy to be swept up in the students’ excitement.
After the performances, grandparents were invited to visit the classroom to see the students’ work and to participate in some fun activities to finish off the afternoon.
It was a privilege to be able to bless our older generations as much as they have blessed us.
