The Southern Highlands Christian School Library aims to provide a rich, welcoming environment for all members of our school community. Junior School have their own brightly coloured space with cushions and soft toys, while the High School library provides a mix of group study areas, individual study areas, and bean bags – along the lines of modern learning commons. Our library is open throughout the school day, except during recess. The High School Library is also open after school till 4.15 (4.00 on Tuesdays) for homework and study purposes.
We aim to provide a wealth of resources, both recreational and informational, and include both physical and digital formats. Our digital resources are both computer and tablet compatible and available 24/7. They include ebooks, World Book Encyclopaedia and video.
Our resources are carefully selected to encourage enjoyment of reading and lifelong learning, while upholding our school’s distinctively Christian worldview. Students are encouraged to develop increasing levels of discernment in their reading choices as they grow and mature. Students in years K – 9 are encouraged to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge each year.
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to visit our library. Borrowing privileges for parents are easily arranged and volunteers are always welcome. Donations of appropriate resources in good condition are welcome. Please see the librarian if you have items you think may be suitable.
